Dr Gintautas Bagdžiūnas received his PhD in organic chemistry in 2012 under the supervision of Prof. E. Butkus at Vilnius University, focusing on organic synthesis and supramolecular chemistry of bicyclo[3.3.1]nonane-based systems. Subsequently, he joined Prof. J. Gražulevičius' group, where he worked on the theoretical modelling of organic semiconductors for organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs). Since 2017, he has been a postdoctoral fellow in Prof. A. Ramanavičius' group, focusing on the development and theoretical study of biosensors based on organic semiconductors and theoretical modelling.

Currently, Dr Gintautas Bagdžiūnas holds the position of senior researcher at the Institute of Biochemistry, Life Sciences Center of Vilnius University, and the Department of Functional Materials and Electronics at the Center for Physical Sciences and Technology. His research and teaching interests are centred on enzymatic electrochemical biosensors for the detection of various analytes in general healthcare and food quality monitoring. His expertise lies in bioelectrochemistry, electrode modification, organic synthesis, bioconjugation of enzymes, determination of their biocatalytic properties, and theoretical computations.

Our research group of supramolecular analysis specializes in applying supramolecular chemistry and enzyme-based detection methods to identify neurotransmitters such as dopamine, noradrenaline, acetylcholine, D-amino acids, and serotonin within the brain and various other samples. They also focus on integrating bioelectronics into brain-computer interfaces and memristor-based artificial neurons. Additionally, our group conducts research on chirality as a universal marker of life.
