Aims of course |
Main purpose is to train a profitient in enzymology and to develop of subject competences. Also, to develop general competences: skills to analyze, compare, critically evaluate information, to prepare presentation for public in order to train oral presentation and communication skills. |
||
Main topics |
The scope of enzymology has expanded rapidly over the last century, from an early focus on the chemical and catalytic mechanisms of individual enzymes to more recent efforts to understand enzyme action in the context of dynamic, functional biological systems consisting of many interacting enzymes and proteins. Main topics: • Enzyme structures and modification of these structures; • Specificity and functionality of enzymes; • Enzyme stability and stabilization studies; • Enzyme kinetics and recent enzyme kinetics studies; • Enzymes in non-conventional media; • Biocatalysis; • Immobilization of enzymes; • Enzymology in systems biology, chemical biology, bioorganic chemistry, etc. • Enzymes - in medicine, industry and the environment.

Assessment criteria |
||
Seminar presentation |
Seminar of 30-40 min duration. The presentation will be evaluated based on the clear visual presentation, understanding of the presented subject, relation to the leaned topics, answering to the given questions. The total score range will be from 2 to 10: -2-4 (insufficient) - 5 (sufficient) -6 (satisfactory) - 7(highly satisfactory) -8 (good) -9 (very good) -10 (excellent) |
