Rules mandatory for all the employees, PhD students and students carrying out the final works in research laboratories and/or working in offices (has come into force since 17 November 2020)

Taking into consideration the growing number of persons ill with COVID-19 and aiming to provide for the possibility to conduct experimental research, it was decided to impose the following rules mandatory for all the employees, PhD students and students carrying out the final works in research laboratories and/or working in the offices since 17 November 2020:

a) The rule of keeping 10 square metres distance per person working in offices and laboratories at a time must be observed. It means that in many offices only one employee will be able to work at one time.

b) Wearing masks are mandatory in all the offices and premises, where there is a possibility to meet another person. Masks must cover the nose and mouth securely. Disregard of this rule will be considered violation of job duties.

c) During work in a laboratory without a mask, a transparent face shield or protective plastic glasses are strongly recommended.

d) Defence of dissertations is organised in the VU LSC premises guaranteeing the maximum number of participants, 10. The rest of participants are provided conditions to take part remotely.

e) Pursuing to protect our employees and members of their families, interior and furniture surfaces in the VU LSC building will be regularly tested in order to identify possibly asymptomatic SARS-CoV-2 carriers. Tests will be collected after the working hours (past 6 p.m.). Having performed PCR analysis, the results will be presented only to those employees, in whose working environment SARS-CoV-2 RNR traces are detected.

In view of the decision by the Government of the Republic of Lithuania to declare quarantine from the 7th November, seeking to protect the health of our community members, the coronavirus prevention task force has decided that all the activities at the University are to be continued remotely until 29 November.

That mean that all lectures, laboratory work and practical assignments as well as all course  assessments will be held remotely. Students are only allowed to carry out their research projects in laboratories, providing your project tutor agrees with it and all the necessary precautions are taken into action But please be advised that individuals exhibiting the symptoms characteristic to the illness (e.g. fever, cough, difficulty breathing, etc.) are prohibited from being at the Center.

There is a strong possibility that the situation will persist for longer, therefore the study process will most likely remain like this for rest of the semester.
