This week, Vice-Rector (Research and Innovation) Prof. Eugénio Campos Ferreira from University of Minho (Portugal) visited Vilnius University Life Sciences Center (VU LSC).
During this visit, Dr. Kastis Krikštopaitis, Director of VU LSC, introduced the guests to the center and its scientific endeavors. Prof. Daiva Baltriukienė, Head of Doctoral School, presented the results of LSC‘s comparative assessment, highlighting changes over the years.
The discussion included differences in evaluations across countries and the criteria required for the comparative assessment of higher education and research. Prof. Eugénio Campos Ferreira visited the Department of Eukaryote Gene Engineering at the Institute of Biotechnology and the Department of Molecular Microbiology and Biotechnology at the Institute of Biochemistry, where Dr. Rasa Petraitytė-Burneikienė and Prof. Rolandas Meškys, the respective department heads, introduced the current research topics and demonstrated the laboratories.
During the visit at LSC the vice-rector of the University of Minho was accompanied by the Director of VU Department of Science and Innovation Vida Lapinskaitė and the Head of Science Administration Department Eglė Miltakienė.
Minho and Vilnius Universities are members of the ARQUS European University Alliance. The main objective of this alliance is to establish common, long-term, sustainable structures and close inter-institutional cooperation in the fields of studies, research and social partnership.
