Preliminary Topic: Production and analysis of beta-carboanhydrase proteins

Short Description of the Internship Work: Beta-carbonic anhydrases are enzymes that catalyse the reversible hydration of carbon dioxide to bicarbonate and protons, making them important for carbon fixation, ion transport and pH regulation in a wide range of organisms including plants, bacteria and fungi. Due to their ability to use carbon dioxide as a substrate, these enzymes can be applied in industrial biotechnology. During the internship, we will aim to produce recombinant beta-carbonic anhydrase proteins, investigate their properties and assess their applicability to catalyse chemical reactions.

Qualification Requirements (Degree): BSc

Application Deadline: 2024-09-30

Additional Comments: During the internship, the student is scheduled to be employed in a project financed by Science Council of Lithuania for 40 hours/month. The internship is for a 3rd year undergraduate student. If you are interested, please send a short motivation letter and CV with study estimates.
