Mission
As the VU LSC Didactics Center, our mision is:
- To enhance didactic competences in biology and other fields in life sciences in Lithuania;
- To facilitate the collaboration between teachers, teachers-to-be, pupils and members of the LSC community;
- To organize various educational activities.
The Didactics Center at Vilnius University Life Sciences Center aims to strengthen didactic competences in biology and other branches of life sciences by facilitating cooperation between teachers, pedagogical students, schoolchildren, and members of the LSC community and by organising educational activities. It has a dedicated and specialised laboratory space named BioEduLab. The BioEduLab is equipped with accessible tools for learning how to teach and teaching the main concepts of life in a school environment - from simple observation through microscopes to extended experiments using educational sensors and DNA analysis.
Foremost, the BioEduLab unit is dedicated to teachers: to learn, create, and share knowledge with each other and with the researchers at LSC. Focusing on all kinds of practical activities and complex topics that require qualitatively new content, this center also aims to develop educational innovations based on the collaboration between researchers at LSC and teachers or other educators in Lithuania and beyond.
The BioEduLab team provides consultations regarding topical issues: choice of equipment, particular methodologies, innovative theoretical knowledge, and targeted contacts with researchers. For students of pedagogy, this is the perfect space to access the educational equipment used in schools.
