We invite you to nominate candidates for the LSC Council for a four-year term. The Council is a collegial self-governing body that elects the Director of the Center and determines the candidates and functions of the deputies, approves the Center's activity plan and annual reports, the Center's annual estimates of income and expenses and their implementation reports, evaluates the results of the research, experimental, social, technological development and innovation activities, studies and the quality and level of the Center's performance.
Composition of the Council
The Council of the LSC is composed of 15 members. 11 members of the Council will be elected in the present elections:
- three members of the staff of the Center, meeting the requirements of Article 12.4 of the Statute, Professors and/or Research Professors
- three members of the staff of the Center, meeting the requirements of Article 12.4 of the Statute, Associate Professors and/or Senior Researchers
- three members of the staff of the Center, meeting the requirements of Article 12.4 of the Statute, members of the academic and/or non-academic community
- two representatives of the social partners of the Center.
IMPORTANT: Each academic unit (institute) of the Center shall be represented by at least one representative for the above points 1 to 3.
Three members of the Council (representatives of all study levels of the Center) will be delegated by the procedure established by the VU Students' Representation. The Director of the Center is an ex officio member of the Council.
Candidates may be nominated by
The electors of the Center have the right to nominate or stand for election. By Article 12.4 of the Statute of the VU, the electors are the researchers and lecturers of the Center who are employed at the VU under contracts of indefinite duration or who have been employed for at least three consecutive years under fixed-term contracts at least on a half-time basis, adding up the total working time agreed in their contracts of employment with the VU. Time worked in VU hospitals and other VU establishments, undertakings, and organizations is not included.
Nomination procedure
The following documents shall be submitted to the Electoral Commission of the Center by email to or in room C157 (Saulėtekio al. 7, Vilnius), Monday-Friday, 9.00-12.00 and 13.00-16.00:
A signed application and a signed letter of motivation (up to 2 pages);
OR
a signed Nomination Offer, a signed Nomination Agreement, and a signed letter of motivation (up to 2 pages).
Documents submitted by email must be signed with a qualified electronic signature.
The closing date for nominations is December 18, 2024.
A candidate may withdraw his/her application by notifying the Centre's Electoral Commission in written form at least one working day before the opening of the early voting period.
Voting for LSC Council
Voting will take place on January 9, 2025, in Room C109 of the Center, from 9.00 to 16.00 (voting in advance on January 7, in case of a second round - on January 14).
The term of office of the outgoing Council will end when the new Council holds its first meeting, which must be held no later than twenty working days after the announcement of the election results.
